The South Dakota Safety Council’s “Winter Driving Skills” class has been created for beginner drivers. Driving in snow, ice, wet and cold creates a challenge for the driver and vehicle: this 3 1/2 hour classroom session will educate your teen on the safety precautions, preventive measures, and tactics necessary for driving in Winter conditions. After participants complete this class, a qualified adult is encouraged to take the beginner to a parking lot (or other safe location) to practice what they have learned in class. Remember, slow progression from the parking lot onto low traffic, low speed streets is the safest way for beginners to improve skills and put into practice what they have learned.
